IAB condemns the murder of journalist Miguel Ángel Beltrán in Mexico
The International Association of Broadcasting (IAB) strongly condemns the murder of Mexican journalist Miguel Ángel Beltrán Martínez, whose body was found in the state of Durango with signs of violence and an intimidating message.
This heinous crime, which adds to a worrying pattern of attacks against journalists in Mexico, represents a serious violation of freedom of expression and of the public’s right to be informed.
The IAB expresses its solidarity with the family and colleagues of Miguel Ángel Beltrán and urges the Mexican authorities to conduct a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation to identify and bring to justice both the material and intellectual perpetrators of this crime.
Protecting the lives of journalists is protecting democracy.
