IAB expresses its solidarity with Colombia following the serious consequences of the earthquake on 10 August
The International Broadcasting Association (IAB) expresses its deepest solidarity with the Colombian people in the face of the serious consequences of the earthquake that struck on August 10, 2026. This earthquake caused numerous deaths and injuries, as well as considerable property damage in various parts of the country.
IAB extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have died, wishes a speedy recovery for those who were injured and stands in solidarity with all communities affected by this tragedy.
Furthermore, IAB would like to express its appreciation and support for the authorities, emergency agencies, rescue teams, healthcare personnel, volunteers and all those who have been working tirelessly on search and rescue operations and providing assistance to the affected population since the very first hours following the earthquake.
In these difficult circumstances, IAB would like to recognise the important work of the Colombian media and journalists, who have helped to keep the public informed and disseminate essential information about the emergency.
