On Friday, May 22, the International Association of Broadcasting (IAB) held a new meeting of its Board of Directors in the city of Lima, capital of the Republic of Peru. The meeting was organized by the National Society of Radio and Television (SNRTV), an Institutional Member of IAB and host of a gathering that left a significant mark on the regional broadcasting agenda.
The meeting concluded with the discussion and approval of several resolutions, which may be consulted through the following link: Resolutions approved by the IAB Board of Directors.
Throughout the day, Board members addressed issues of major importance for the media industry, including the fight against piracy, the role of local media within their communities, the challenges facing freedom of expression and freedom of the press in the current context, and the need to strengthen unity among broadcasters in an evolving media ecosystem.
The meeting renewed the commitment of IAB and its members to private, free and independent broadcasting — values that, despite the challenges of today’s environment, remain at the core of the Organization’s institutional mission — and left participants with renewed enthusiasm for the future of the sector.
IAB extends its gratitude to the National Society of Radio and Television of Peru for its hospitality and for making possible a high-level meeting for broadcasting in our region.
